Surveying Team

The Virginia Tech Surveying Team is a dedicated group of civil engineering students committed to mastering the fundamental principles of surveying as part of their academic and professional development. In preparation for the ASCE UESI Surveying Competition, the team focuses on applying both field and office surveying techniques to compete in tasks such as differential leveling, pacing, construction stakeout, and the preparation of a topographic map.

Through these activities, the team strengthens their ability to integrate essential surveying principles into the design and construction process. They also gain an appreciation for the critical relationship between the civil engineer and the geomatics professional, ultimately preparing them to become well-rounded engineers.
